Baby blanket with mitered corners

Post

Hi!

Today's blanket for you mom. This time we used one fabric, with wide decorative ornamental edges. The single layer makes the bladder protect the little one from the cold, but does not overheat in hot weather.

You need:

-jacquard piece of fabric

-scissors

-setsquare

-sewing pin

-sewing machine

Plan the size of your blanket and then add 6cm on each side.

Remember that standard fabric width is 140cm or 150cm which will make a blanket 128cm or 138 cm wide. It is possible to sew a blanket in the bigger size - we can show it in another tutorial.

After cutting the shape, neaten the fabric the raw edges with a zigzac stitch or on overlock.

Then prepare the sewing pins and set square (triangle) to measure the angles.

Fold the blanket diagonally to create corners. Cut off the remaining fabric.

Press the triangle to the folding line and measure 5 cm. Mark with sewing pins or marker and cut off remaining fabric.

Repeat the activity with two remaining corners and sew - width 1cm.

Turn the corners inside-out and pin them with sewing pins. Repeat the activity with all blanket’s edges. Be careful to keep the margin 6cm wide. Sew the blanket around with the 1cm edge folded. Cut off the threads and iron it. Ready!
