Dear Parents! Our tutorial is a great idea for family time with school-age kids!
As we use two kinds of scissors in this little project (for fabric and for paper), we would like to share a few advices how to take care of your sewing scissors:
Use sewing scissores for fabrics only; never use them for foil or paper to avoid blunting
Never use emery paper to sharp the scissors
Regularly oil the pivot and screw using special oil
Often clean you scissors with the soft cloth
Avoid droping your scissors
We will need:
FabricArt fabric
Binder
Sewing scissors (for the fabric)
Paper scissors
Double Side Tape
Scrapbooking corners
Lineman’s pliers
Sewing machine
First step
Choose the fabric and draw binder’s template. Cut off unnecessary pieces of fabric. Leave the edges (width of double side tape) to stick the fabric.
Second step
Stick the tape to the binder. Pay a special attention on the edges: the tape should be folded on the inner side of the binder to make sure the fabric edges will not unstick.
Third step
Stick the fabric to the outer side of the binder. Flatten the fabric on the cover.
Fourth step
Stick the double side tape along entire length of free edges and fold into half. Cut the corners diagonally to avert creating multilayers.
Fifth step
Stick long edges of the binder with the double side tape again: half of the tape on the folded fabric, the second part on the inner surface of the binder.
Repeat the sticking on the shorter edges.
Sixth step
Now grab the Lineman’s pliers and clamp the corners on the four corners of the binder. They will add WOW effect and will protect the fabric from getting torn.
